Who can apply for Kids Protect?

Parents whose unmarried child(ren) is between the age of 1 month and 18 years old (both ages inclusive) and primarily dependent on them for maintenance and support can apply for Kids Protect. The policy is renewable until the insured child(ren) is 23 years old (age inclusive).

Both the applicant and the insured child(ren) must be Singapore Residents. Singapore Resident means Singapore citizen, Singapore Permanent Resident, or holder of a valid Work Permit, Employment Pass, Long-Term Visit Pass, Dependant's Pass, or S Pass issued by the authorities in Singapore.

Is this a monthly or annual policy?

The period of insurance is 1 month if you are paying a monthly premium, and 1 year if you are paying an annual premium. The policy will be automatically renewed upon payment of the monthly/annual premium every month/year.

Will the premium increase as my child grows older?

The premium does not increase as your child grows older.

Does Kids Protect cover my child for illnesses?

No, this is a personal accident policy that covers your child for accidental injury. The Accidental Medical Expenses Reimbursement benefit, however, pays for treatment of the specified Covered Diseases up to a sub-limit of S$750.

The specified Covered Diseases are Chicken Pox, Dengue Fever, Dengue Haemorrhagic Fever, Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease, Malaria, Measles and Zika Fever.

What is an Alternative Medical Physician?

An Alternative Medical Physician is a legally licensed traditional medical practitioner (including a Chinese acupuncturist or bonesetter), chiropractor or physiotherapist. He has to be registered and practising within the scope of his license in the country where treatment was sought.

Does Kids Protect cover my child while he/she is studying overseas?

Yes, your child will be covered so long as his/her policy remains active and he/she continues to meet the eligibility criteria.

Does Kids Protect cover my child during National Service?

Yes, your child will be covered even when he/she is serving full-time National Service. However, the benefits payable under the Accidental Permanent Disability Benefit and the Daily Hospital Cash Benefit will be 50% of the sum insured.

Does Kids Protect pay over and above any other insurance coverage that my child has?

The Accidental Permanent Disability Benefit and the Daily Hospital Cash Benefit are payable in addition to any other insurance coverage that your child has. For the Accidental Medical Expenses Reimbursement benefit, the policy will pay the amount which has not been reimbursed under any other insurance policies.

How is the 15% No Claim Bonus calculated?

At the end of every 12 consecutive months, you will receive a refund of 15% of the preceding 12 months’ premium (excluding GST) to your nominated account if no claim for an event that occurred in that period is made.

Are there any other situations where benefits will not be payable?

These are stated under the General Exclusions section in the policy wording. Below are some key exclusions:

  • Pre-existing medical conditions
  • Deliberately self-inflicted injury, suicide or, criminal or illegal act
  • Unlawful acts or wilful exposure to unnecessary danger (such as jaywalking or speeding) except in an attempt to save human life
  • Injury sustained by the insured person while under the influence of alcohol or any drugs
  • Air travel except as a passenger in a fully licensed passenger carrying aircraft
  • Hazardous sports or activities involving parachuting, skydiving, hang gliding, ballooning, any kind of race (other than on foot or swimming) or trial of speed or reliability, potholing, mountaineering or rock climbing.

How do I cancel the policy?

You may cancel the policy by giving Chubb 1 month’s prior notice. Please contact Chubb’s Customer Service Hotline for assistance.

What circumstances will trigger the policy to be automatically cancelled?

The policy will be cancelled automatically:

  • when 100% of the Accidental Permanent Disability Benefit has been paid;
  • when you or the insured child(ren) ceases to be a Singapore Resident;
  • when insured child(ren) is married or employed (excluding full-time National Servicemen);
  • when insured child(ren) reaches the age of 24 years old; or
  • upon death of insured child(ren)
