What CareShield Life is and Why You Might Need It
By age 65, half of Singaporeans may experience a severe disability requiring long-term care.
CareShield Life is a long-term care insurance plan offering financial protection against these costs.
In the event of a severe disability, you'll receive lifetime monthly cash payouts starting at S$600 (based on a 2020 claim). These payments increase annually by 2% until age 67, or until your claim ends, whichever comes first. See the table below for details.

Considerations for Plan Selection
Take into account your caregiving preference in the event you are severely disabled. The cost varies widely based on an individual’s condition, type of disability, and care preferences.
As an estimate, the cost could range between S$900 and S$4,000 per month before subsidies, depending on whether care is provided at home, at a day care centre, or in a nursing home. This is separate from the cost of engaging a domestic helper and other common expenses including assistive devices like walking sticks and wheelchairs.
How much does the premium cost?
The premium of CareShield Life Supplement can be paid by cash or by using the insured’s own or the insured’s family member’s (e.g. spouse, parents or children, sibling or grandchild) MediSave, up to a limit of S$600 per year. Cash can be used for the remaining amount above S$600.
